Is it free to join?
Yes. Creating an account, browsing books, reading free Catches, and following writers all cost nothing. You only ever pay if you choose to unlock a piece someone has priced.
How does Pay-Per-Post work?
Writers can set a one-time price on any Catch instead of putting it behind a monthly subscription. A reader pays once — via eSewa, Khalti, or a mobile wallet — and it's theirs to reread forever, no recurring charge. See the full breakdown →
What is Akshar?
Akshar (अक्षर) is what you earn for being active on WritingNepal — daily visits, rating books, writing, getting likes and follows. It's tracked on your WN Digital Card, and 100 Akshar = Rs 1 in book credit. You can also redeem Akshar to unlock a paid Catch instead of paying cash (Beta). Read more →
How do writers get paid?
You set a price on any Catch from your Catch Cloud. When a reader unlocks it, you keep 90% — WritingNepal keeps a small cut to cover payment processing. No ad revenue split, no waiting on a monthly payout minimum.
Can publishers list their whole catalog?
Yes — publisher accounts can list an entire catalog of titles for free, with ratings and reviews from real readers attached to each book.
Does WritingNepal support Nepali and English?
Both. Most of the catalog and community writing is in Nepali, but the platform itself and plenty of Catches are in English too — write in whichever language fits the piece.
What happens if the site is down?
Catch and other logged-in features run on infrastructure that can occasionally go offline for maintenance or during power interruptions. If that happens, you'll see a short "we're upgrading" notice instead of an error — your account, drafts, and Akshar balance are all still safe, and everything comes back once the connection is restored. The main site (browsing, Books) stays up separately.
