WritingNepal began in 2010 as something much simpler than what you're using today: an online catalog, built to help Nepali readers actually find books — a straightforward, useful idea at a time when that kind of thing barely existed online for Nepal.

The site you're on now grew out of that same starting point, one piece at a time. What was once just a catalog is now a full community — a place where writers publish and readers respond in real time, where genuine participation is tracked and rewarded through Akshar, and where a writer can publish something and have readers unlock it directly through Paid Posts. None of that existed in the version linked above. It's a genuinely different site, built on the same original idea: make it easier for Nepali readers and writers to find each other.

The snapshot above is a real capture from the Wayback Machine — not a redesign or a mockup, but the actual site as it existed at that point in time. Broken images and dead links are part of that; the Internet Archive preserves pages as they were, not as we'd want to remember them.

A fuller, self-hosted version of this history — with more of the old pages actually browsable here on the site, rather than linking out — is planned as a follow-up.
