WritingNepal Book Club

One book, a thousand readers

Every month, one book. We all read it together, and we talk about it deeply — not just with likes and one-line comments.

What is this?

A book club for everyone on WritingNepal. Each month we pick one book from our catalogue. Anyone can join, read it at their own speed, and talk about it with other readers. Reading together is not a common habit among Nepali readers yet — this is a new experience, and we are starting it together.

How it works

  1. Join the month's book with one tap.
  2. The book is split into parts by page range, for example pages 1–40, 41–80 and so on.
  3. Read a part, then tap "I read it".
  4. The discussion of that part opens for you. People who have not read it yet cannot see it, so nobody gets spoiled.
  5. Earn badges as you go: First Page, Midpoint, Cover to Cover. You see them on the book page.

There is no money and no Akshar here. The reward is the reading itself.

A deeper kind of conversation

Likes and "nice book" comments end the conversation. We want the kind that continues.

Flat
"Nice chapter."
Deep
"The narrator says he is free, yet he never leaves the room. Is that freedom, or comfort?"

Some questions to start with in any part:

Which line stayed with you, and why?
Did you agree with a character's choice? What would you have done?
What does the writer want us to feel, and does it work?

Who benefits, and how

Readers

  • A reason to finish a book and keep a reading habit.
  • Learn to read more carefully by seeing how others read the same pages.
  • Find other serious readers, not just followers.

Writers

  • See how real readers respond to a full book, part by part — honest, thoughtful feedback instead of likes.
  • A model of reading that can help your own writing and your own reading.

Publishers

  • A chosen book gets a month of attention from many readers at the same time.
  • A window into how readers actually talk about a book.

Nepali reading culture

Reading is usually a lonely act. A shared book turns it into something we do together, and a habit that grows when many people keep it up.
